Itinerary 4-Day Mixed Desert Trip Atlas mountains and Camel Trek

Day 1Marrakech - Atlas Mountains - Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Mhamid

Today Our authentic 4-Day Camel Desert Trek Tour from Marrakech, will be via the Atlas Mountains to reach the village of Mhamid in the southeast of morocco, it is located right there at the gates of the desert, M’hamid is the last village before the desert, mhamid  has  a large desert with variety of landscapes where you are going to explore and learn about the life of nomads. 

Transort will be in a private vehicle depends on the group number .  after sometime of driving The Possible break is going to be in a village in the Atlas for a panoramic view of the Atlas mountains, later we drive in order to stop for a visit of Ait Ben Haddou near Ouarzazate (a Ksar classified as a UNESCO heritage site) where you will learn about the history of this castle or as the local moroccan call it casbah. then drive  to get to have  lunch at oulad otman draa valley by  is on the side of the draa valley oasis and the anti atlas mountains views. The drive will continue to the desert with views of draa valley fascinating oasis and palm groves all the way and glimpsing dilapidated kasbah, this road is called the roads of hundred of kasbah.

In the evening, the night with the locals in the village, or in a fixed bivouac, all comfort, in the heart of the palm grove and sand dunes.

Day 2Mhamid - Sidi Naji Desert region

This morning after breafast and peaceful night in moroccan desert of mhamid,  we  depart on the  foot of camels from the camp, accompanied by our team of camel caravan guides and kitchen men. The team will be a group of local nomads who are expert of the desert and they knows its mystecal paths. 
 
In the morning, the hike start in the Sahara desert after loading the camels. wewill make our first encounter with the sahara after heading  to the Palm Grove of M’hamid oasis where the dunes meet the oasis. Tea and lunch are taken in the shade of a Tamarisk. you will walk together with guides and their beloved camels as one caravan, just the way traditional nomads with simple means, crossing the sahara desert and enjoy views of desertification all the way around dunes that was formed with sand and small valley.
After a rest, we leave for the sanctuary of Sidi Naji.  A place full of history and local customs where you see traces of civilistion and pottery pieces from the ancient nomads who roamed the area. In the evening, the camp is set up at the foot of the sand dunes.
Night in the desert is in a tent or under the stars, in the middle of the dunes, surrounded by infinitive views of sand dunes mixed with ancient tamarisks trees.

Day 3Sidi Naji - Erg Zahar

Early morning after we have our Breakfast. the camel nomad guides will start loading the portable camp on the back of camel, to get ready for the adventure, the camp folds up.
the camel caravan the departure will be through the dunes to find easy paths avoiding the blockage made by bigger sand dunes, then a vast dried-up lake and scrubs areas that comes facing our caravan of camels.
 
all over the way there  will be many  open views and you will learn how the desert is changing from one area to another and how nomads learned its secret ways. We keep walking  until we reach the magnificent dunes of the erg Zahar (called “screaming dunes”). Night in the Sahara desert in a nomadic simple tents, or under the stars.
Erg Zahar is the dune number one on the Sahara of morocco, due to its natural setting with no fixed camps or mass desert tourism, it is known for trekker as highlight destination, it is special place with special  orange dunes that is beautifully shaped by wind of sahara desert, lunch will be eaten after the setting of the camp  in a private dunes area.

in the evening, we plan to hike the big dune of Zahar for a sunset view, it is more then two hundred high with fascinating shapes and wild emptiness.
 
the night will be spend  under the stars with music and stories of nomads told by your guides.

Day 4Big Dunes - Mhamid - Zagora - Ouarzazate - Marrakech

Today the morning will be among the dunes of Erg Zahar.

We will be already in the middle of the Moroccan Sahara desert

In the morning, after breakfast we will say goodebye to the desert  and that by returning  to M’hamid on the four weels desert car, the 4×4 will be waiting for us a little further,  because we are camping on the middle of  the dunes. We will leave the camping place towards the village of mhamid, through the magnificent landscapes of the Draa Valley.
 
 After arriving to mhamid town we directly head to Marrakech, all over the way, we will have several stop for refreshment and photography,   until we arrive to marrakech  in the late evening.
 
in Marrakech there it will be where we  Drop-off at your Riad .
