1o Day Luxury Desert Trip from Marrakech Itinerary

Day 1Marrakech - Ouarzazate - Skoura

Your Best Luxury Marrakech Desert Tour begins at 8:00 a.m. with a pick-up from your riad or hotel. Depart for Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert through the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n’Tichka pass, where you’ll enjoy beautiful views, stunning scenery, and Berber villages. We’ll make a stop at the universal heritage site of the Kasbah d’Ait Benhaddou, as it was named by UNESCO in 1987. An old village that has been used as a backdrop for over 20 films, including “Gladiator”, “Indiana Jones” and “Laurence of Arabia”. Enjoy a walk to explore the traditional Moroccan style of architecture in which the kasbahs are built. Depart for Ouarzazate then Skoura for dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2Skoura - Dades - Merzouga

After breakfast, you’ll head for the Todra Gorge, a 300-meter-high canyon in the eastern part of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains, near the town of Tinghir, where you can go hiking, then on to the Sahara desert, Merzouga, to Erg Chebbi, where the dunes appear out of nowhere. Then enjoy an hour-long camel ride across the desert at sunset to our private camp surrounded by towering sand dunes. Relax, listen to traditional Berber music, and watch the moon and stars in the stunning Sahara. Dinner and overnight at Merzouga desert camp.

Day 3Explore Merzouga Erg Chebbi

After a Deluxe breakfast here in our Luxury Merzouga Desert Camp, we will pick you up by a 4WD vehicle and start our explorative day of the Sahara:
– Drive to the area where the nomads are settling in. They will happily host you
in one of their tents for tea. It is an excellent opportunity to know how they
live in a harsh environment away from civilization.
– Visit a hidden abandoned village in the middle of nowhere! The town is home
to the Galena mines. You will get to see them too.
– Drive to another village called Khamlia, where you will listen to Gnaoua music
played by the locals. Their origin is from southern African countries like
Sudan. Here, you can also have lunch in a local restaurant.
– After lunch, we drive to a lake near the town of Merzouga if it is full before we
head to your riad

Day 4Merzouga - Fes

Before sunrise, you rise to take part in the fantastic sunrise. After that, you have breakfast and get ready to leave for Fez. On our long drive, we enjoy the natural landscape of the Ziz Valley. We’ll stop to admire some impressive natural views, then continue on to the town of Midelt. Further on, we reach the beautiful town of Ifran, before arriving in Fez. Dinner and breakfast at the riad.

Day 5 Visit Fez

Fez is considered to be the oldest city in Morocco, so it’s a real opportunity to immerse yourself in it and get to know it well. This day will be dedicated to a journey back in time. Our local guide will show you its secrets and provide you with plenty of information about this city of holly. You’ll visit the city’s historical, cultural and heritage sites, and enjoy a stroll through the narrow streets of the old medina. You’ll insist on visiting the most important sites, such as the ancient University of Qarawiyin, the Jewish Square and the Royal Palace …. After lunch, you’ll visit the traditional baking cooperative, then enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the entire Fès medina. dinner and breakfast at the riad.

 

Day 6Fes - Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we’ll head straight for Meknes, where you’ll have time to see and visit its historic sites before heading off to our destination, enjoying the green natural landscape of the Rif mountains as far as Chefchaouen. Evening free to wander on your own. Dinner and breakfast at the riad.

Day 7Chefchaouen – Rabat

after free time in chefchaouen take the road to Rabat. after arrival you’ll visit Rabat, home to the Hassan Tower and the mausoleum of Mohammed V, the kasbah Chellah, a settlement built around nearby freshwater springs. Chellah was a settlement built around nearby freshwater springs. These later evolved into the Phoenician and then Roman city of Sale, before falling into ruin as Rabat moved northwards. The sultans of the Marinid dynasty chose to bury their dead here, and it is as a necropolis that the Chellah is most famous.Overnight in Rabat in a riad a la midena.

Day 8 Rabat – Casablanca

After breakfast departure for casablanca via the atlantic coast. After breakfast, opt to take a guided tour of the Hassan II Mosque. More than 6000 craftsmen joined forces to build this beauty in 1993, and it’s one of the few mosques in Morocco that foreigners can enter. Later, head to the station and take a local train to Meknes before jumping in a taxi and take a drive through the rolling hills to Volubilis. Head out on a guided tour of these epic Roman ruins, then head to the whitewashed village of Moulay Idriss – one of Morocco’s most important pilgrimage sites. Here, you’ll witness a demonstration of the art of mint tea making – this sweet treat is a Moroccan speciality! Tonight, you’ll get to hang out with a local family – an experience only allowed foreigners since 2005. Your guesthouse, an old traditional riad, has a family atmosphere and all the optional meals are homemade, so you can get an authentic taste of Morocco in your free time.

Day 9 Casablanca - Marrakech

After breakfast in your riad, you can visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Africa, decorated with a magnificent tiles of the highest quality. You’ll need to queue for tickets, which cost around 120 dh per person, and the guided tour lasts about an hour. Later, we’ll continue to Marrakech with more views of the Moroccan countryside. Your driver will take you to your riad for a rest.

Day 10 Marrakech - Airport

after breakfast, we’ll drive Marrakech airport for your flight, depending on your departure time. End of our service.
