12 Day Morocco Tour from Marrakech To Erg Chebbi Itinerary

Day 1Marrakech - Ouarzazate - Dades

For this Private 12-day Erg Chebbi excursion into the Morocco desert with us, we’ll start by picking you up from your accommodation in Marrakech (in a private vehicle) at 8 a.m. and begin heading towards the great High Atlas Mountains. The drive through small Berber villages with their lush green fields will be spellbinding as we cross the highest pass in Morocco, then the Tizin Tichka Pass. 

We arrive at Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and historic Kasbah that has served as a film location for many international films, series, and photoshoots. When we’ve finished exploring the Kasbah, we’ll finally head for the town of Ouarzazate, then drive to Dades via Skoura where we’ll spend the night.

Day 2Dades - Merzouga at Erg Chebbi

After having breakfast, we will embark on our desert Safari to Erg Chebbi. We will drive then through the Berber villages of the Dades Valley until we reach a spot that is popular with natives and tourists who love rock climbing. So here, you will be able to see high walls of grey and pink rock. You can also hike along the 300-meter-high canyons. After the drive, you will have the opportunity to experience then riding on a camel for over an hour. We assure you that the whole trip will be fun-filled. You will spend the night in a camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi dunes.

Day 3Explore Merzouga Desert

Camel trekking involves saddling up the camels around 10 a.m. at the foot of the dunes, then setting off on an adventure across the soft golden sands.
This experience takes you back to the nomadic way of life, when camels were the main means of transport across the unforgiving Sahara. Enjoy the immense beauty of nature, peace and tranquility on the back of your camel.
You’ll pass by a nomadic family living in a tent, giving you the opportunity to learn more about their unique way of life and how they endured the harshness of life using as few resources as possible. Arrive at the oasis camp where you’ll enjoy a delicious and refreshing lunch.
Later, walk back to your Camp, enjoye the sunset over the dunes. Local Music around the fire, dinner.

Day 4 Merzouga - Fes

Wake up early so you don’t miss the sunrise and enjoy a morning camel ride. Afterwards, return to the hotel for breakfast and a day’s drive to Fez via Rissani, the Ziz Valley and the Ziz Gorge.
Lunch will be served in the Middle Atlas Mountains before passing through the magnificent cedar forests and towns of Azrou and Ifran. The latter is nicknamed “Little Switzerland” and is one of the cleanest cities in the world.

Day 5 Fes

Enjoy a full day of sightseeing in Fez, Morocco’s oldest imperial city. The medieval city of Fes El Bali or “Old Fes” remains complete and intact.
During your visit to this part of the city, we will visit the exotic Bou Inania medersa, the medina and the Kairaouine mosque, where you can take photos of the magnificent courtyard of the main gate.
The university of the same name, founded by Fatima Al Fihri in 859, is considered by the Guinness Book of Records Book of Records and UNESCO as the oldest university in the world. In the afternoon, you
visit Fès El Jdid, or “New Fès”, and the Museum of Moroccan Art. The night is spent in the riad.

Day 6Fes – Chefchaouen

After breakfast in your riad, your journey continues through the hills and past numerous farms with vegetables, olives and fruit trees. The products of these are distributed throughout Morocco.
The road takes you to the Roman remains of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site. World Heritage Site. It’s easy to imagine this royal city with its houses, pillars, paths and magnificent mosaics.
This place is spread over a wide area, offering beautiful views over the valley and hills. Here, you can hire a local guide to help you understand the history of this fascinating and impressive site.
Later, you can visit the holy city of Moulay Idriss, with a view of the Roman site of Volubilis. Non-Muslims are not allowed to enter the mausoleum, but the main square but the main square offers great views and pretty little stores.

Day 7 Chefchaouen

After lunch, you continue on to Chefchaouen. We arrive in Chefchaouen in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay in a beautiful riad.
Today, you can relax in one of the city’s countless cafés, or stroll the streets of this the streets of this unique little town. This small town is typically Moroccan, but still very individual. Today is really a day for relaxation. But you can also take a walk in the hills on the other side of the river at the far end of town.

Day 8 Chefchaouen - Rabat

After breakfast, you can spend a little more time wandering through the pretty streets and alleys. From here, we drive to Ouazzane through the cedar and fir mountains fir trees. You take the freeway to Rabat via Kenitra, following the Atlantic coast.
 Arriving in Rabat, you’ll visit the Hassan Tower and the Mohammed V Mausoleum, built in
tribute to the king, who died in 1961. His son and successor, Hassan II, who died in 1999, is also buried here.
Dinner and overnight stay in a beautiful riad.

Day 9 Rabat – Casablanca – Marrakech

After breakfast in your riad, you can explore the capital further, with a visit to the medieval Muslim necropolis, the Chellah, overlooking the Bou Regreg river. Later in the day, take an hour’s drive on the freeway to Casablanca. Here, you can visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Africa, decorated with a magnificent tiles of the highest quality. You’ll need to queue for tickets, which cost around 120 dh per person, and the guided tour lasts about an hour. Later, we’ll continue to Marrakech with more views of the Moroccan countryside. Your driver will take you to your riad for a rest.

Day 10 Guided Tour

After Breakfast your Local Guide will pick you up from your riad, Admire Mellah Square and the souk, Bab Agnaou, the Bahia Palace and other monuments and must-sees. Your local host will take you to the city’s main sights so you can get the perfect overview of what makes Marrakech so unique.
Along the way, your local host will show you hidden treasures that only locals know about. Get to know the city from a different perspective, the local way, and discover places and stories that few tourists know.

Day 11AirBallon Sunrise

Join this unique hot air ballooning experience in Marrakech and offer yourself an exceptional adventure full of emotions. Early morning at 5am pick up from your riad, Get on board of a giant air balloon and enjoy the panoramic landscapes of Berber villages and Atlas Mountains that unfold under your eyes.

After an early morning hotel transfer by 4×4, you will be welcomed in a luxurious Berber tent to have a hearty and tasty breakfast.

You will then join your pilot for a hot air balloon ride above the clouds for 40 to 60 minutes. Around 10 am drop-off at your Riad

A flight certificate will be given at the end of your experience to keep a souvenir of your adventure in the air of Marrakech.
